Howie

That is a big change - you are a brave man - congrats.

What happened to the big Solutions amps?

Does the kondo amp drive the Strads? Or a you going to horns?

Thanks Shane.

The Soulution amps got traded in. They were the best SS amps I have had but i always thought valve amps held the edge and I am correct so far with what I have heard.

This Kondo combo was always one I wanted to have

So far the Ongaku is driving the strads with surprising ease but I would like to consider the westminsters as a possibility. Avantgarde horns are a little bit extreme visually for me to contemplate right now.

Howie, no matter how good a SS amp one owns, there is always a special tube amp out there that will capture your admiration and make you forget about SS. Coupled with appropriate/sensitive speakers and one has to wonder why in the world we ever walked away from something that made complete musical sense from the start!

Serge,

Like anything, variety is the spice of life and we needed to sample the others to realise what we were missing otherwise the circle would be incomplete. To be honest i would have gone for this combo last year if I wasn't so worried about tubes and kids. Now that I think they are to be trusted some more I feel more comfortable but still keep the Ongaku on the top shelf.

But you're right, it's an expensive circle to complete but necessary I feel

Been there myself my friend. I think we all complete that circle sooner or later, the difference being the "radius" of that circle.

Tell your wife it is mine and I am hiding it in your place from my wife!

Double Bluff!

In fact the more I think about it the better it sounds!

Howie .... Ever compared the Soulution to the Vitus . Would be keen to have any feedback on how the Soultion stacks up against my current Vitus pre-power combo.

I almost pulled the trigger on a SM 101 monoblocks plus SL 102 preamplifier just to try some serious Class A SS amps but the Kondo stuff made more sense long term.
I don't know if it is true but all the second hand dealers told me to avoid Vitus as it wasn't too reliable. Love the sound though. Warmer than solution.

Howie
