Cyril,

The table and Shindo designed arm won't work with my EMT cartridge.

The grooves are being mined by a brand new Shindo designed Ortofon "A" body cartridge. Ken Shindo takes an Ortofon cartridge and replaces the cantilever, motor, and suspension to his own design.

It sounds SUBLIME and hasn't broken in yet.

Enjoying AA on my DROIDX

Stephen...interesting. Do you know which ortofon cart he starts out with before essentially rebuilding it? Just curious. I am sure it sounds sublime. You are living the dream. If you end up in a bigger room at some point, (and funds permitting) I would pull the trigger on a pair of Silverbacks to get a fuller range presentation and a bit more resolving sound to hear everything your tt is "mining" from those grooves.

I don't even remember, Cyril...just know it wasn't worth the hour drive. I left it with her...look up the worst table ever to wear the name, and that was probably it.

Cyril,

The cartridge starts as a New Old Stock (NOS) Ortofon SPU-A Classic that are no longer made. Ken Shindo then rebuilds them to his own specifications.

Huge congratulations Stephen - that table is a masterpiece. There are VERY few tables for which I would trade my 40-year-old Thorens ... this is at the top of the list. One of these days ... :-).

I am doing a rain-dance so you have a plausible excuse for staying home all week-end and listen.

Alberto
