I am wondering if the reason I did not hear a difference is because the power lines and transformer are underground in my neighborhood, my nearest neighbor is pretty far, 5 acres from my house and the dedicated power line from my fuse box going to my stereo is only 3 feet long ?

I'm thinking that the magnitude of difference we hear will depend on how "bad" the power coming into our systems is in the first place-for whatever reason. Too bad we don't have a convenient way to check this-aside from bringing home a PPP and trying it out, of course.

I have to say, my building is providing as high as 6.7% THD at times, that's brutal to me. So no wonder I hear such a difference.

Nope, that really isn't it either. In Florida for example I am on the Emergency Power Grid; it services the Fire Dept & Police central station. Power almost never goes out, and is the first to be restored.

Remember my demo years ago with the big electrical storm Pete. The party went on without a glitch.

However the quality of power coming in my home is no better than yours. Let's not forget I also have my own dedicated transformer.

This has everything to do with the level your current system is at. For example a speaker with a high end response of 15khz will not reproduce 16khz.

The system must be already at a level that the new clean power improvement can be heard. This cannot be accomplished easilly with stock cords, untreated rooms, or a basic bare bones rig.

I have done dozens of systems; the level of improvement is always present however you must remember "A Chain is Only as Strong as the Weakest Link"

Ivan....yes, this all makes sense. Of course you need a system that has reached a certain level. Although there are definitely areas of my setup that could be improved, I'd like to think my system is at a level where I could hear the difference. I do have a treated room, my interconnects-though not of "silver eclipse" stature, are decent. (stock power cords though).

MC602 points out that his incoming power has THD as high as 6.7%. For sake of discussion, what is your typical incoming THD in your Florida home? (I'm sure you've mentioned it in the past, but if you could refresh me...)

My THD here in So Florida is around 5.5%

BTW, this is not a "plug" to sell PPP's there are none available for many weeks to come. As many as I order I am always sold out in just a few days.

No, I know it isn't a pitch Ivan...just discussion.

Still, I wish I had a convenient way to check the THD.
