If I'm following you, I don't think one can adjust the THD Input or Output. When you write:

I take that to mean the Input out Output numbers. Is that what you mean? By "corrected," you mean the difference between the Input and the Output THD %?

But the thing that I'm finding strange is that the Input THD% is generally slightly reduced while the Output THD% is increased. Of course, I would expect the opposite.

Interestingly, since I posted this observation last night I let the PPPs sit for a while -- maybe an hour or so -- and when I turned them back on even later last night, the Input THD% held around 4.5% and the Output THD%, the one that is concerning me, went back down to the .5% area.

One other little thing, when the unit(s) were turned off I put my ear to them and could hear a noticeable sound -- the cooling fans perhaps? -- running. I thought that was weird too because the units were completely off. One last note, I often write of the PPP as singular when in fact I have two identical units, and both units are responding identically so I don't think the so-called "problem" is with a specific unit. They are doing this in unison and are responding within a tenth of a percentage of one another. For all intents and purposes, they are responding identically.

I am running them this fine Sunday morning and they are not giving the high THD% Output readings.

BTW, I have yet to attempt to calibrate the voltages. Those move around a bit and I have not concerned myself with it.

This sounds normal to me Britt. I notice increased THD% readings in the evening.

Indeed, the thing that I am trying to put succinctly is, the Input THD% is not increased in the evenings while the Ouput THD% does increase. So you are indicating this is normal? Okay, cool. Thanks. Love the units.

BTW, I have two additional Quadraspire cherry shelves ordered for them. I'll put a picture up once the shelves arrive but they are special ordered now and might be a month or so -- maybe sooner.

Sounds great Britt, looking forward to seeing them!

On a side note, I ordered my first ever Silver PPP to go in my analog rack.

Britt.......The Power Plant Premier never really turns off. The display turns off, but not the PPP. The receptacles on the rear remain energized, with the only exception being if you select a receptacle group for delayed turn on using one of the control switches on the rear. When you "turn on" the PPP, either by the blue push button on the face, or by 12 volt trigger, the PPP will perform a test cycle of the fans, energize the display, then energize the delayed receptacle group if that was selected. Beyond that, the PPP is energized continuously.

Roger this. I went back through the Owner's Manual again last night. I discovered how to flip those little switches on the back and keep the McIntosh units in the standby mode. Thanks for your help. I'm coming along.

Your analog rack? Turntable? What else? I would love to see photos when you get it installed.

My two units sit one on top of the other and I switch them on and off together. Normally they are in sync and the readings are very close. (Each one is connected to its own 20 amp wall plug and circuit). Occasionally they get out of sync and I have to unplug the units from the wall to reset them, then everything is back in sync.

One thing I have noticed with mine is when the input voltage goes up above 120 the output THD% goes up while the input THD% remains the same.

That could be what is happening with yours.

Todd
