Fizz is my favorite. It's a very versatile food wine too. The bottle to bottle inconsistency is maddening which must be why I keep drinking it. I've had several all time favorites and many that were just so so, even expensive ones.

You should check out Lamiable. We encountered their champagne as it was the champagne we were served at Osteria Francescana in Modena (one of the worlds top restaurants). It was the Lamiable Grand Cru Extra Brut.
So this autumn we took the RV to Champagne for some "shopping". The Extra brut is only 22 USD - a steal to say the least.

Your missing out, Grant Burge Sparkling is a favourite of mine.

Funny thing is, you can buy it far cheaper in New Zealand than in Australia (They have silly tax system for wine there).

You can purchase their PINOT NOIR CHARDONNAY NV for $20 from our local Supermarket- its a fine drop!

Besides the more expensive La Grande Dame; here are a few favorites of mine when I don't want to break the bank but do want to receive change back from a Twenty:

Nino Franco Rustico -- Dry, crisp w/hints of apple -- $13.99
Mas Codina Cava Brut -- good Spanish sparkler, good body -- $11.99
Mumm Napa Brut Prestige -- vibrant flavors of citrus, red apple, richness -- $18.95

Best Sirs,

Bob

Topless ballets? Where can I go see one of those?

Based on a limited sampling, I am not sure there would be much to see.

We have started buying champagne regularly from large and small growers. Contrary to reputation, we find that its quality varies by price, with some higher value and some lower value vintages. I.e., I can virtually always tell the difference in a $20 bottle and a $40 bottle (including with blind tastings). Of course, I love the $20 bottle that delivers the flavor and experience of the $40 bottle - it’s the hunt that makes it fun.
