Default Sasha's And Recommended Max Watts

Just curious, but is there a recommended MAX watts that the Sasha's can take? I see the specs have a minimum, and asked the dealer -- they only told me that I can rest assured that I won't "blow them up" with my MC601's. Not that I thought I would, but still with most loudspeakers there is a recommended range. I don't seem to see one with the Sasha's. What are all you current Sasha owners using in terms of amplifier max watts?

Bryan,

I think you should be fine with your 601's. Better to have more power than less power. You would probably damage your hearing before you hurt your speakers. While I'm not an engineer, it has always been my understanding that it is amp clipping because of too little power that causes speaker damage before too much power can hurt speakers.

I'm using Lamm 1.2 reference amps, which can put out nearly 800 wpc into the lowest impedance loads of the Sashas and they work great together. Plenty of headroom, although I usually listen between 80 - 85 db as measured at the listening seat.

You could go the Mac 2KW amps and you would not blow up the sasha's as long as they do not go into audible distortion when playing - that would be LOUD.

I suspect the fuses that Wilson Audio have blows before the speaker driver breaks.I am not sure though.

Agreed, under powering is the real problem. Your 601's will put out more then the 600 watt's they are rated for, but only on demand. I doubt you will run into any trouble.

Yes, I understand I'm not going to blow them up, I just think it's prudent to put out something in terms of what the manufacturer thinks is "too much".

No fuses in Wilsons
Resistors protect the drivers

So do the resistors need to be replaced periodically?
