With dCS gear, the (dual) AES/EBU are the most common preferred outputs.

So, I don't doubt they may at some point rework the software for the USB to perform output capability; but believe the bells & whistles will remain with AES/EBU.

Thanks all.

I like the S/PDIF because of its simplicity, plug and play. Although USB is very high bandwidth, a single USB 2.0 cable can transmit 480Mb/s but it very noisy.

Default Digital cables for McIntosh D1100, AES or Coaxial?

USB is the way to go. Does the dCS have an USB output or is USB input only?

Fake news, McIntosh is notorious for screwing up manuals, particularly when it comes to sample rates.

I have Wireworld Platinum USB, coaxial, and AES cables all (3) connecting my Aurender N10 to the McIntosh D1100.

I’m probably the only nut job who goes to such lengths to hear it for myself and decide which one sounds better. [emoji38]

I can assure you, coaxial and AES pass up to 192 files. I don’t own any higher sample rate files.

The coaxial and AES sound IDENTICAL

The coaxial and AES sound ever so slightly better than the USB. The USB connection is fine but the other two are just that much better. However, if you want to pass DSD files, you need the USB cable. My Meridian 808v6 plays DSD fine via coaxial from the N10. Not so with the D1100

That's great but not what the OP was asking specifically with his interface.

Best Sir,

Bob

Actually, it is EXACTLY what the thread title asked. In the McIntosh forum. I will let dCS owners handle the streamer, I can only speak to the D1100 capabilities.

I concur with Jason...my thoughts exactly. AES/Coax a tad superior than USB but nothing to scream home about

yeah the Thread asked which Connection best serves the D1100.

Thank you for the information.

To sum up, the AES and Coaxial sound identical and better than USB interface with D1100. That’s very clear now.

Thanks again.
