Default Rowland owner here

I have owned several A/AB Rowland amps as well as two preamps since the day Jeff Rowland design Group opened its doors. I have never had even a tiny problems w/ the units and my bridged Modal one amps work like new and are going strong after 20 years of daily use!
Last week I bought the newest version of the 625 stereo amp (300 watts at 8ohms/450 at 4ohms) and will get my new Corus preamp tomorrow. Very excited.
Over the years JRDG has earned the respect of critics, reviewers and consumers alike & would be considered to be among the small elite club of top tier audio designers in the US. The cream of the cream . The new JRDG equipment is among the most aesthetically beautiful designs in the world and follow a less is more. form follows function and Zen simplicity path that lots of folks love. The sound has emerged over the years that is less showoff hifi and more musically organic and even self-effacing.
I really love the sound & truly enjoy the ultra quiet , low distortion and slightly warm qualities.
JRDG equipment has excellent resale value and even his older switching amps have collectors willing to hold the value up.

Personally I find Valhalla transparent, fast, and pure sounding.

Great image density - Yes. The valhalla lets my cj GAT pre amp bring this out in spades as it is one of cj's great strengths.

It may sound skeletal if a component or system leans that way. In the past I have experienced that, however it was not the cable causing that.

cheers

I found Nordost Valhalla speaker cables on my system to be very detailed, however thin in the bass, Switched over to Cardas Clear and Clear Beyond and are most happy. Also I hated their twisting frail character and stiffness on their power cords.

I'm using Nordost TYR2 speaker cable but a mixture of Transparent Super and WireWorld Gold and Silver Eclipse XLR cables.
You might check with Chuck. I think he switched from Nordost to Transparent when he purchased his Momentum's.

Welcome seconded

Great to hear from a long term Jeff Rowland fanboy............

I've only owned my JR Corus for 10 days and I'm very happy indeed with the improvements it has brought to my system.

Hi Jim... Yes, I had Nordost Valhalla's that I upgraded to from Transparent Ultra's with my Lamm 1.2s. When I moved to the Momentum's, I liked the speed and transparency mentioned above, however I wasn't as happy on the top end with the Momentums vs hybrid Lamms. I then received, from my dealer, a new pair of Transparent Ref Xls to try. I let them break-in for a while before doing some serious listening. The Ref XLs were smoother (i.e. less harsh, I have very sensitive ears) on the top-end and the bass was better than with the Nordost... I liked it so much I traded in my Nordost. Now I'm just awaiting my Alexia's that will replace my Sasha's.

Thanks Chuck!

It will be a month or two before I get my amp but appreciate your input. I think I'm in the same boat, ear sensitivity wise and I'll know it immediately. With my TADs, everything is revealed so I am eager to hear the combo. I think that's why I love my Dartzeel. It goes so well with my TADs.
