I am in talks with my dealer to "move on". I feel my MA8900 is not a good match for the DB1D via RCA connection. I have lost my inside connection who was helping me to get the engineers to listen to my abnormalities I have experienced with this sub. This is an evolving hobby we are entrenched within. Bottom line, I should not have to have settings at 60% of max to get an acceptable sound. I have been told repeatedly a balanced connection yields best results.

I bought the DB2D at the end of last year as a replacement for my ASW750. The first disappointment was not beeing able to use my Samsung S9+ (Android 9) with Room EQ to auto-setup the sub.
Almost inaudible when choosing my 702s2, therefore setting up manually: RCA stereo, +8dB (of 10dB) other speakers. Custom EQ 0,+2,+3,+3,+3. At these settings, the DB2D blends smoothly and seamlessly.
After a couple of days i'm starting to hear a popping sound from the sub when playing at low volume. The sub is on stated by the light in the power button, but appears like it's turning on and off. Very annoying sound, so i returned the DB2D, and got refunded.
Very disappointed to read that the issues concerning low power through RCA/stereo still isn't solved a couple of years after beeing put on the marked.
Anyway. I loved the DB2D. Will probably by it again when B&W has solved at least two of the latter issues.

I just recently reacquainted myself with this site and went through this thread. It interesting to see all the experiences.
I have a DB1D with 803D3's in my main media room which is 15 X 18. It is connected to a Bryston SP3 using the LFE. All 7 channels are powered by Bryston. I have not experimented with using the DB1D's other inputs but based on some of the comments and experiences on this thread I will do that. I have both balanced and unbalanced outputs on the SP3. I do a lot of listening to 2 channel analogue and did not feel the need for more bass because the size of my room, which is why I have only used the sub for movies and multi channel SACD.
My room is acoustically treated and measures flat using a Phonic PAA3 RTA from my primary seating position. When I replaced my Mirage BPS400 sub with the DB1D about a year ago I was blown away by the improvement in sound. With the Mirage the bass was deep and heard but I was always aware of the fact I had a sub. With the DB1D it blends in much better is tighter and can be felt instead of heard. I use an iPhone 6 running ios 12.4.5 and the set up was very simple. When I measured the SPL using my trusty Radio Shack SPL meter I had to turn down the SP3 gain to -2 to achieve the same 70 bd level I was getting with the Mirage BPS400. When I ran the RTA with the BPS400s I had 4 peaks and 4 nulls at my seating position. When I run the RTA now with the DB1D I have a single null identified at 37 hz. Thats what the app shows and the RTA shows. This means that in my set up the DB1D integrates better in my room because of the combination of the 803 D3's and the DB1D.
I should also mention that I have a DB2D in my family room mated to Usher Mini Dancer Diamond 2's. That one is also hooked up the the LFE of a Marantz receiver also powered by Bryston. The family room is about 20 X 30 and I find the bass more than enough for the situation.
Now that I am in self isolation for 2 weeks and I have nothing but time on my hands I will experiment with the other inputs and see what I experience.

I, too, get the popping noise at low volume but once volume goes up popping is gone.

As I've posted in the past, I love my DB3D with 805s (connected via XLR to Mc C22). In addition to great sound, the software makes it incredibly easy to integrate seamlessly. But just to be clear--I would have returned it immediately if I was frustrated as some others have been.

For folks having trouble with the popping sound on low volume--I recommend disabling the auto off feature in the iPhone app. (auto off works fine for me, this is just my guess)

Hi all, my first post here. Bought a DB2D to replace my PV1D. For stereo I am running 804D3’s, Classe CP800 and Rotel RMB1585. Made a quick connection with RCA LFE during the week as I had not yet installed the XLR cable. Got minimal volume on both LFE and stereo settings, cones move but very quiet, similar to some experiences posted here.
Connected the XLR today and wow, fantastic! Using hi/low pass filter of the CP800, crossover at 50hz, slope 12db. Still need to do final calibration.
Quick try with Marantz AVR using RCA LFE prior to Audyssey, for sure no problem with volume. Will post more details later.
For now 4 issues:
1. Cannot find anywhere how to update the firmware, can anyone here help?
2. Auto on cannot be set in App as per manual. When the CP800 is switched off, the sub switches off but shortly afterwards on again - without a signal! Switched on during the day yesterday when I was at work, enabled auto off to ensure at least it switches off after 20min
3. Sometimes the app disconnects from and shows an error, only way to restore it is to switch off and on at mains
4. Cannot understand why the Level setting has been removed from the App, stupid to use the gain setting under inputs config, that should not need to be disturbed when making slight volume changes for certain tracks. PV1D was nice, you can set the volume without going into the menu, when the sub is switched off it reverts to zero

So it looks (sounds!) promising so far and major upgrade from PV1D, as t should at the $$$.
Any advice on the 4 issues will be appreciated, thanks in advance
So very promising
