These look very nice! I had an LP-1 years ago. Just recently, I bought an LP-27a from another audiophile. I was also wondering about the layout on the back. Is there a legend floating around somewhere to guide us with the outputs/inputs/etc. ? My new LP-27a should be here tomorrow and of course, nothing will be labeled I'm quite sure.

There is a diagram put together by the OP for LP-2, Lp-3a and LP-27A (all the same inputs/outputs) not sure if I have seen one for the Lp-1. You can open it up and trace the wires from the selector switch. While you have it open post a pict of the inside here. Wiring porn always goes over well with these readers.

BTW those open corners on the chassis are DH originals. Back when he was building his own chassis and painting them out back in his open air spray both. Ill bet that pre is past its burn in cycle and sounds smooth as silk.

These preamps sound great. Didn't realize how much I missed my Inspire gear until I heard the LP-27a in my system. Not sure his amps would drive my Genesis 7.1c speakers, but I am loving the preamp!

I did that basic "manual" for the LP-2 a few years ago. Dennis changes his designs enough that it is not universal. In general, it seems he puts the output jacks to the left of the input jacks when looking at the rear of the preamp.

Here is a link to it, FWIW. (If you are reading this post well after I posted it, the link may be dead): https://1drv.ms/b/s!Akltgq2oZfdfil9s-YwAe2VEBo0c

Thanks so much for posting this! Some valuable info. Very nice write up "Pstrisik".

Any users of the LP-27a care to share their favorite tube choices? I personally am using Sylvania 27's, RCA 6BX7GT, and a Sylvania 80 rectifier. I am enjoying it quite a bit, but not sure what else I should try. Pretty happy at the moment.

Do the 57 tubes just add more gain to the circuit?...or does it also change the overall dynamics and slam of the circuit?
