15 or so years ago, when I lived there, I had the pleasure of hearing Andras Schiff at a Sunday afternoon piano recital. The Hall said that the hydraulics on their lift failed for the first time ever when attempting to bring the monstrous Bosendofer of his up to the stage, and that they had to bring it up in pieces and assemble it on the stage.

My modest system simply cannot reproduce that wonderful timbre of a piano in a concert hall.

I enjoyed 2 hours with Graham Parker and Brinsley Schwarz last evening at The Sellersville Theater. Graham playing an acoustic six string and Brinsley and electric guitar. Graham was in fine voice still and played straight through hitting albums he has made over four decades. While not that familiar with his music, I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Recommended.

Default What Live Music Are You Listening To Tonight

Justin Townes Earle with the Sadies at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle. The Sadies did a set on their own first: wonderful playing and music, but the place is so reverberant and they were so loud it was like a wall of mud and I had to put in earplugs. Then Earle played for two hours, backed by the Sadies for most of it but with about 4 songs just solo. He was outstanding, and the Sadies turned it down enough so the sound became much better. All in all an excellent show.

Heading to see Chicago and Doobie Brothers on the 25th of June at the local amphitheater with the wife, sister and I. Secured covered seating (1/3d seating under is cover, 2/3d's open air or lawn). Don' feel like driving home sopping wet.

Saw David Lindley last night at the 500-seat Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon, Washington. He put on a great show, went for almost 3 hours, with fantastic guitar-playing and great stories.
