Yes.......we noticed how safe Oakland is this past week. And Berkeley and San Mateo and......... The 'East Bay' is like any other megatropolis. Plenty of problems with some very nice areas. Not East LA, but give it time.

Sorry guys but I would not feel safe in a country where a kid can take a gun from his home and bring it to school to shoot teachers and students.
I would leave my kids every morning with a "bullet" in the stomach....

I meant but I am sure you understood, that I would feel very anxious when I will let my kids at school.
