Vivaldi.........The Four Seasons
We went to our local gardens for a tour of the newly renovated fountain section. During the 12 minute fountain display, they played Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and I realized that I don't have a really good rendition of this in my collection. What can you recommend, preferably in a digital download. HD Tracks has several to choose from. Thanks, Jack

Vivaldi: The Four Seasons Nils-Erik Sparf (baroque violin) Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble It's from the BIS label. Astonishing playing and sonics on this one. |

An excellent recording. Here's another one by the Avison Ensemble, available from the Linn website: http://www.linnrecords.com/recording...concertos.aspx

With probably ten Four Seasons in my collection, there is no doubt, this is my favorite. Superb interpretation, top quality muscianship and sound. Winter is fantastical.

Igor Kipnis has a great recording with a small ensemble - very intimate. An interesting variation of the larger piece.
I'm also a big fan of Max Richter's Four Seasons Recomposed. Available in HD Tracks too. And there is an iPad app which is phenomenal in breaking down the different sections and pieces - and even has 3 different recordings including the Max Richter version http://vivaldisfourseasons.com

Any recommendations on a 5.1 SACD that is easily accessible in US.
