The sound... Sublime

Spinning Bob Marley on the Micro Seiki and the Harbeths are singing.
I always love reading about members who are thrilled with their new gear, and best of all their system is singing nicely. There is a certain "havingness" to high quality gear which gives you a sense of pride. That is a part of this hobby I really enjoy. That is the payoff for all the hard work and sacrifice.

ps: I like that word "sublime"

Tubes, there's no substitute ... Alas.

+ 1. You need tubes somewhere in the mix

Beautiful!

That amp should rock plus there are tons of EL34's out there if you're into rolling some glass.

Luxman have been great this way, often keeping to a proven look (the 'retro' style, yes). And the newer players, like Leben another; and most likely others. Great look, hope it's suiting.

I found a perfect, like new Luxman SQ-38 EL-34 based integrated for sale not too far away. I contacted the owner (great guy) and made a deal.

This is such a high quality piece of retro looking, smooth sounding gear I just love it. Packed with useful features. The headphone amp is supposed to be amazing.

It has ALL of the EL-34 sound that I have always loved.

For you visual types...
Lovely looking amps!
We do not get much exposure to Luxman at where I live. Wish we had.

My first introduction to EL-34 was about 10yrs back, then it got me infected to tubes. The next that I tried and once owned was 300B, 2A3 and KT120 tubes. All except EL-34, were used to drive my Harbeth 7ES3 and SHL5.

I am back to SS though ... But once I can have a 2nd set up, that will be a tube setup for sure :-)

Share some pictures with you too... I love the blue glow on 300B :-)

I'm a big Luxman fan. Great choice.

(just took possession of my fathers K8 tape deck). 30 years later it functions like new, crazy.
