Best bet is to ask the seller directly. Another reason why I stick to "regular" computers for my streaming. |

Getting a little closer to making a choice, I'm leaning towards a Lumin D2 but also really like the Sony HAP-Z1ES. However, from what I've read, its not compatible with Tidal. Would like to hear from some HAP-Z owners (current or previous) on how they feel this unit performs.

I used to own the Sony HAP-Z. Loved it. No computer needed to run it although you must use a computer when you first load your music into its hard drive. It works very well with Spotify (but not Tidal). It also does internet radio (TuneIn if I recall correctly). It can up-convert all your music to DSD if you choose to. If you have a NAS it can automatically synchronize the music (need computer for that). It is a really solid machine. I sold it because it was not compatible with Roon and I had decided to go with Roon. Solid unit, always worked without any computer gremlins. Highly recommended. |

Even with a much more expensive DAC/Streamer, I still miss the sound of the MB50, really magical. |

I would think the Lumin to be the better choice for it's integration with all of the major streaming services plus as a bonus their lead software engineer, Peter, is readily accessible to answer questions or help solve any problems you may have through this and multiple other forums. Another option if you don't mind buying used is to find a D1 with a Linear power supply.

I’d second the Lumin. It has excellent sound, a good, easy-to-use app, and will stream Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, and TuneIn internet radio. It’s also very well built. Lumin is an audiophile streamer.

You're right Killergurt. There's definitely some kind of magic going on with the MB50. I've yet to hear a streamer that sounds better to me. I think it proves that there's much more to a streamer's sound quality than just the DAC being used with it. Hope you're enjoying your system now.

I am also trying to replace my 601s with 611's, been talking to my dealer, see how this pans out. Never a dull moment, but I just love it! |

I have the 205 unit. Gapless is an issue, which Oppo, by email, say they are working on. However, they have been working on it for a while.
Gapless works -only- using a directly connected USB drive, but their on-board music app is so-so (basically a file browser; does not create a searchable index based on embedded tags like JRiver, Lumin, Sonos, BlueSound, etc). I do use Minimserver running on a Synology NAS, which works very nicely with the OPPO, excepting gapless. PLEX also works; again without gapless. With the 205, you can attach an external streamer to the digital inputs (e.g. Sonos) - this works quite well, gapless and all.
