Btw, the Oppo 103 and 105 can be used to rip SACDs. I have the 105 as well and decided to keep it for that reason. Something to think about in case you upgrade to the 205.
I did not know that. I suppose the 205 can as well. But I don't know where I'd rip it to, if I replace my BDP1 with a new Oppo. Also, I guess I could rip regular CDs too?

The 103 and the 105 are the ONLY two Oppo models that can rip SACDs. I expect them to hold their value into the future because of it.

To rip regular CDs, you can use any computer (PC or Mac) and use dedicated software to do it. No stand alone CD player needed for this; just your computer disc drive.

SInce you use Roon, you can save the ripped files to any hard drive that is connected to the same Roon network. Then tell Roon the location and it will index the tracks and include them in your Roon library.

Do a search on this site and you will find several threads dedicated to how to rip CDs and SACDs.

OK. I know how to rip, I use DBPoweramp. I rip to thumb drives for our vehicles and for the BDP1. I do have a very few SACDs. So I'll hang on to the 103--didn't know it could be used to rip anything, so it sounds like an easier way than breaking out my mothballed PC. I had just read Kal's review of the 205, and learned that, about the 103, 105 being the only ones that can rip SACD.

Your input has been very helpful. Much appreciated!
