It's a monopoly... I am paying $280 for Xfinity/comcast monthly (that includes security/cameras though). The conversations that take place when one calls to see how to "reduce" the price is borderline extortion... They make it so it is nearly impossible to go with just basics. The $50 Million dollar villa the Comcast CEO has built himself in Naples Florida sure is magnificent though.. I've seen it from the water.

I saw it too; he has a DirecTV antenna.

We cut the cord with Spectrum last year. Monthly bill about $230 was enough for me. Now I have Netflix, Prime, Starz App, and Direct Now App.

Still not happy about having to still subscribe to Spectrum for internet, but they're realistically the only game in town for the time being. All in all we shaved about $1200 a year off our telecom bill.

Serge.......My Internet provider is Windstream via DSL coupled to my home landline telephone. I get 24MB for $50.00 a month. Out in this rural area of north Florida where I live there are no cable or fiber Internet providers. It's DSL or HughesNet satellite for internet. I would love to have super fast Internet like some here have reported in other threads but 24MB works good for me, and streams Netflix, Hulu, and Prime without issues.

Dan, 24MB is pretty darn good for DSL. On my street it’s 3MB.

Tony.......I had to upgrade to a new modem that allows Bonding of two lines. Not sure exactly how Bonding works but previously I had been at 12MB for the past few years. With the new Sagemcom xDSL Bonding router I now get 24MB download speed via DSL. Upload is still ridiculously slow at 1.4MB, but the higher download speed is what I was after. Being able to reliably stream movies and television from the Internet is what convinced me to abandon DirecTV.

That’s all that really matters Dan. If the 4K stream holds at 24k as it should, the speed of online browsing is much less important or even noticeable with faster service IMHO.

Thanks Dan, I’m not familiar with bonding, does that mean you have two lines to the house and are able to combine them? I’ll have to check into it.

Tony.......Yes, as I understand it there are two lines. There was no additional charge for the second line. Your incoming phone cable generally has 4 wires which allows the telecom to deliver two lines.
