Right & agree 100% -- but re-read Ivans' post -- seems like he was taken advantage of -- older records, probably of the day, that are to him anyway, re-wrapped in 'new wrapping" along with having the deformaties he mentions (with cuts, etc., and were not mentioned in the ad).

I don't know what he paid for these, but, I don't envision Ivan wasting his time buying $1 records off Amazon.

So, if I interpret the meaning of his post -- I wouldn't accept them and definitely return 'em.

Frankly, I was more surprised than anything else. It's only about a half dozen, older classics, in the $20 range.

The albums you have may well be brand new, and could have been acquired by a vendor in a warehouse closeout, or by other means, but there is no difference in the actual vinyl record, only in the manner it was intended to be distributed.

Actually, the WLP pressings were often the first ones off the stampers so they could get out to the stations for airplay. If they haven't been played to death, these are often the best sounding versions of an album you can find.

For this reason, I have always been quite happy to find sealed WLP albums, and have bought literally hundreds over the years. I've yet to find one of these with the ticks and pops that later pressings have often exhibited.

I have about 14,000 records, crammed into racks, sitting in boxes, stacked in corners, many in long term storage, etc. etc.. I do look at the jackets, but as long as I am able to tell what I am listening to, and read the information on the back (which is oh-so-much better than what we find on CD's), I am quite happy. And I do keep the records themselves clean, and use a record cleaner routinely.

I guess one day, my heirs may wish that I had taken better care of the jackets, or that I had never bought copies with holes in the corner or whatever, but, after all, I didn't buy my records for them. I bought them to listen to.

In addition to the Bling Cheese, I will leave my lovely children all the Bling Crosby records, . . . except, of course, for the Bling Crosby Christmas records which I'm leaving to Stephen Two Dot, because he loves Christmas music so much.
