Jungle of Stone by William Carlsen
Non-fiction story of John L. Stephens and Frederick Catherwood who explored the Maya heartland in the 1830s & 40s. An amazing story of adventure and the era, as well as of the Maya themselves. Read most of it while traveling earlier this month through the northern Yucatan, where we visited some of the same sites, such as Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Merida and Tulum.
