@nicoff
Thanks again.

@Moonhawk,
Ot didn’t work for me. From the Logitech helpdesk I got the advice to look in the delay option for a device. As written before it helped but not with all switches.

I come from a PhilipsPronto TSU 7500 (RU 990), which worked fine with me, but isn’t supported for several years.

So I suppose you, Moonhawk, are working with a Harmony, too. And did all went well with the SP3?

Yes, I have a couple of Harmonys that generally work well with the SP3, with occasional glitches. I am not the type who likes to endlessly tweak things, so I generally just use the "help" option in the menu.

I can't help you with delays or things like that because I usually quit in frustration. Overall it works most of the time and I am happy.

Just another thought: check if the SP3 has the latest firmware.

Mine is one of the old ones too and although I upgraded the firmware once or twice I bet that I probably don't have the latest firmware.

Did you try using the original Harmony control remote instead of iPad/iPhone app and still does not work?

I know that I have the latest FW (for the old SP3’s)
http://support.bryston.com/firmware/sp3/

Mostly I use the original Harmony RC.
The problem is not that it doesn’t work, but that it works erratic.

I have 6 activities and switching between them and in which state is the SP3 when it is turned on or off causes the erratic behaviour.

It would be helpfull if I could see a consistent erratic pattern.
So I will try better to registrate/analyse in which situations the erratic behaviour appears.

I will report my findings.

The erratic behavior that you are noticing is common with the SP3. The SP3 has always been finicky and slow with "handshakes".

In my case, when I turn on the unit it usually starts with the same input and HDMI condition that I used the last time. If that is not what I intended that is when I use the "E" button to correct the issue.

Unfortunately the SP3 is now long in the tooth. For example, I have an Apple TV and rather that connecting it directly to the SP3, I now connect ATV to an Oppo 205 player. The Oppo processes the video and the audio and then I feed back the HDMI output to the SP3. I get better picture and better audio that way. And I am not talking about 4k here which we know that the SP3 cannot handle. So I am using another device to process video and a separate DAC for audio (one that can do native DSD and higher resolution PCM). My SP3 has become an expensive switchbox.

Wil keep that in my mind.

I would not agonize over not being able to use Harmony. The SP3's remote is just fine for me. Its not paperweight to me as it is still the best sounding processor made, ATMOS be damned.
