Oh I sure do. What is the point of having 15 inch JBL woofers, and 250 WPC in amplification if you dont hit party levels from time to time?

Albums that get turned up

Beastie Boys Pauls Botique

Anything from Depeche Mode

Both YAZ albums

Anything from Chemical Brothers

All the 45 RPM extended dance mixes I have

Flashlight by Parliment (a Classic!)

I "push it" in the sense that I like it LOUD enough so that I'm fully immersed in the rendering of a life-like performance. I also tend to like a lot of heavy-metal music. However, I do stop the volume short of any slightest bit of strain or fatigue on my ears - which, given my system parameters, is probably quite shy of what it can comfortably reproduce:

* 280 Watts/ ch (at least) Rogue Apollo "Dark" tube amps (runs a full dozen of KT120)
* 96 dB/Watt Tannoy Canterbury GR (those gargantuan 15" dual concentric drivers, for point-source like sound)

That's a lot of overhead!!

I have several I push, and quite hard! My listening room is downstairs so I have full rein and nobody complains about the music level upstairs.

Porcupine Tree~Anesthetize (18 min song.....so the amp and speakers get a serious workout)
Steven Wilson~Luminol (Beggs bass lines are insane!)
Peter Gabriel~Red Rain, In Your Eyes
David Gilmour~Comfortably Numb (Live in Pompeii)
Rush~Natural Science, Red Barchetta
Phil Collins~In the Air, Droned/Hand in Hand
Earth, Wind & Fire~Fantasy, Getaway

The Rega's are 6 ohms/89dB and the Parasound Halo at this spec is about 200 wpc, plenty of headroom for the dynamic peaks in the music. Everything above is enjoyed in the vinyl format and some as 45RPM sonic wonders.

Music is a lot of fun for sure!

Yes, of course, the system gets "pushed" sometimes. Otherwise, what's the point? There have been some excellent suggestions here already (Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, EJ) but here are a few others:

Doobie Bros., Toulouse Street

Wagner, Die Walkure - Leinsdorf and LSO on RCA shaded dog (a warhorse, I know, but it satisfies every time)

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (MFSL)

Nena - 99 Red Balloons (EP)

Elton - Honky Chateau

Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers

Rolling Stones - Miss You / Faraway Eyes (EP)

Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1

The Seven-Ups (first LP)

The Meters - Look Ka Py-Py

... and so many others!

I push it to 21/22 out of 30, when it spreads it's rather splendid mid fi wings.

What I consider "pushing it" is likely normal listening for many. 80db is very loud to me. Currently have 90, 100 & 150wpc available and am seriously considering 400wpc in the near future. In this sport, more is almost always better, regardless of the listening level.

I've yet to activate the PG lights on my MC1201's in the 6 months I've owned them so no I haven't pushed them to their limits. I have had Joe Bonamassa at a steady 120 watts a few times though.

Oh I push my speakers alright. None of that easy-to-reproduce music either. Nuclear warhead-like brutality pouring out of my Legacy Calibres in the form of Napalm Death:

Lots of solid state power on-tap, and with the bass running 6 dB hot, makes for a killer output!
