Default Altec Valencia vs Flamenco

Hi guys
I know that several of you had one or the other speaker mated with Shindo at one point.
I have a chance to get either for about the same price. The Valencia is about extra 20 miles drive but a bit nicer shape so I am leaning towards that one.
It is the A version.

Any suggestion/experience would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Laz
Happy 4th!

I believe they are exactly the same other than the grills. I would certainly drive the extra time to get the nicer pair. I also prefer the grill cosmetics on the 846A, but that's up to you. I would still double check on my info, but that is my understanding. What would you use to drive them?

Actually, they are slightly different in size, but other specs appear similar:

Thanks guys. It would be a Montille / Aurieges / A23 step-up/Kuzma TT.
Also have a pair of Quicksilver mono blocks but likely no need for extra power.

I read somewhere that Jonathan, aka Tone Imports, has or had a set of Flamenco speakers. Perhaps email him directly.

thanks for the suggestion. Looks like the flamenco has some caps done. The Valencia looks better though overall.

Many people seem to like these updated crossovers from Germany:

Crossover Frequenzweiche FÜR Altec Valencia | eBay

I haven't heard them myself, although I have friend with a set of Valencias with original non updated crossovers, whom I am trying to convince to get a pair so I can hear them ; )

Congrats on your acquisition! Both have great synergy with Shindo gear. I have an 846A and eventually came to love the grill. But the Flamenco's grill is beyond cool in an Art-Deco-ish way.

Well someone snatched-up the Valencias. They were one owner with original boxes. So now the Flamencos are left - without the original grille, but supposedly upgraded caps.
