Default Inexpensive mono cartridge

Hi all,

Been thinking about obtaining a mono cartridge. My budget is in the $200 to $1000 range. I own a masseto and have a tw acoustic table with a ortofon rs-212d arm. I currently use a ortofon spu 90 anniversary cartridge which has a low output of 0.3 MV so likely need a mono cartridge of similar output. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a Miyajima Zero Mono which I love. The Zero is above your desired budget but I understand that they also make other models in your budget which are also well regarded.

Bigbear,

Thanks for your suggestion. Where are the Miyajima dealers in Canada or USA?

Thanks

@lowens

I bought my Miyajima in the US from Robin Wyatt at Robyatt Audio, the <or a) US importer who sells directly. He had a moneyback trial policy which was nice to know, but honestly once I heard it for a bit in my system I knew I was keeping it.

The Zero Mono is $1995, the Premium BE Mono is $1260, the Premium Mono is $1050, the Spirit Mono is $590 and the Kotetu Mono around 400. Neither the Spirit nor Kotetu are on the Robyatt Audio website which may be a bit out of date but other websites talk about these.

I run a AudioTechnica AT33Mono Ltd. Edition with great results in a Jelco750D arm.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ordered a miyajima spirit and should receive it next week, I hope. Prices have gone up significantly as I paid $750. Cheers.
