Mc7106
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but was just curious what would be a fair price to pay for an excellent condition MC7106, no box but has manual. Someone local is offering one up for $1,100. Thanks! Sorry if I am posted this in the wrong section! Edit: Forgot to ask, anything I should look out for on these? Mc7106
No expert but a clean, functioning MC7106 with clear provenance would be worth that price.
After 22 yrs of ownership, the only issue I have ever had is the front panel lights are a ‘wear’ item. They have been changed once and need to be changed again. Ask.

I feel $1100 is way to much to pay for a MC7106. It is a very old HT amp. I sold mine for less than $1000 years ago. Mine worked fine except many of the bulbs burnt out. It is a very versatile unit. My main problem with it was the sound quality wasn't the best. I replaced it with an inexpensive Arcam HT amp which sounded much better. Just my opinion. It is built like a tank and I never had any issues using it.

Seems $1100 is a fair price

I’m with @PMCH, I had a used MC7106 too for a time and dont believe the sound from the amp was all that great. I would think $800.00 is a fair price

As I said, if the provenance is good (eg. 1 owner) and all lights work, I stand behind my opinion that $1,100 would be a good price.

Thanks everyone, ended up getting it down to $1,000 and picking it up. It’s a pretty impressive amp!
For fun plugged in my MLs 11A in and it sounded pretty nice, definitely listenable. Was surprised to get the signature McIntosh sound with detail and somewhat open soundstage. The 11A panels are hard to drive. Amp barely became warm. Only when comparing with my MC452 do you know what you are missing (depth, smoothness, definition, etc.), then again different league of amp. Using it as a center for now, then will add surrounds in the future. |

If you are only driving a center channel, don’t forget you can bridge two channels to give you more WPC.

Doesn’t matter what we think. You can try both and see what you prefer.
No doubt it’d sound different Bridged. From there it’s your taste.
