Part 2 of my 3 part upgrade
Several months back, I outlined a 3 point approach to getting that little extra out my gear. First was PC upgrades. I now have 5 Silver Electra PCs installed. I'm on the fence about last two for my speakers. I may revisit this but for now, I'm keeping the stock cords.
Step 2 is going to be isolation of all components. I have 8 BDR Wide pit Mk3 absorbers/isolators coming for my speakers which will be used with Martin Logan spikes. These have been recommended to me by a long time ML owner and swears he won't use anything else. We shall see! In addition to the speakers, I'm isolating the MD1K and the C1000 (all four pieces) with Symposium Rollerblocks 2. I'm going to try using four per unit instead of three. I've read the reviews and am hoping I receive half the improvement others have. 3rd step will be subs in near future. I'll post my impressions after I try these things. Gordon |

I heard a lot of good things about BDR as well. It is definitely in my shopping list for isolation devices.

Gordon, look forward to your impressions with those changes, although I'll admit some skepticism as I think of isolation as more of an issue with vinyl and it doesn't look like you have a TT. I could certainly be missing something here as I've not given it much thought, so am interested in what you find.

I have my 3 high rack between my speakers and the front of the room gets very boomy leading me to think the pieces are vibrating. When the rack was moved away to the side wall the presentation was stellar. The rack did not work on the side wall for WAF. I'm hoping that the rollerballs will bring back a bit of the magic that the side wall positioning gave. Gordon |
