Default Thiel partnering with Gibson on the CS3.7?

The following are photos of Thiel CS3.7 being built with custom Gibson sunburst finish.

Picasa Web Albums - THIEL - Building the ...

I've been receiving blog notifications from Thiel on some kind of partnering agreement with Gibson. You can also find videos or slide shows on how Gibson builds and finishes their guitars. Sure wish I had an extra 15k right now, but the old gritty ear probably couldn't take it anyway.

Yes.. I know the sound of a Les Paul well. A musician friend of mine back in the '70s used to describe "wailing on a Paul." BTW.. have been meaning to ask which sound you prefer, the Gibson or the Fender Strat?

Tres Hombres, and Eliminator are two of my favorite ZZ Top albums. Hvae them both on original vinyl. I love to open the the flip out cover on Tres Hombres and look at that incredible mexican dinner spread out on the table. Makes me want to run down to Casa del Sol right now.
