Since we're doing articles at the moment ...

Here is an interesting nearer to hand survey of "The Symphonies of Gustav Mahler on Record". It describes itself as the second edition from early 1991 and was written for a radio station magazine in Canada. A fair amount of recordings have come since then (the Ivan Fischer issuances, for example) but it's still an interesting read.
