1st Step: Identify all outlets and switches that are connected to the circuit. For our purposes a single circuit can be defined as a single breaker in the electrical panel and all the outlets, switches and dimmers that are connected to the in-wall wire that proceeds from the panel. You can do this by finding the electrical breaker that powers your audio system. Then turn the breaker off and use an outlet tester or a small AC lamp will do to identify all the other outlets or light switches that no longer function.

2nd Step: If possible, unplug any devices (not audio system) that are plugged into these outlets. Find a different cicuit to power them.

3rd Step: For all outlets that are not being used, you can stub them off. This means to disconnect the wiring to the outlet. Of course the incoming and outgoing wires must being cleaned and connected with twist-on caps so that power is passed to the next outlet in the chain. If I have to explain this further, you shouldn't do it - hire an electrician. Then, put a "blank" cover over the outlet box. The outlet can be reinstalled at a later date if you move your system or if you sell your home.

4th Step: If a non audio outlet cannot be stubbed off then replace it with a quality unit. By this I don't mean a platinum plated, diamond encrusted outlet. A good commercial grade outlet will do. In the USA, I prefer to use the Hubbell brand due to the type of brass alloy that they use internally. The reason you want to replace it is the fact that the incoming wire and outgoing wires are sometimes connected through the outlet.

DEDICATED LINES: All the the above explains why one of the most important upgrades to the audio power system is a dedicated line. For those that don't know: A dedicated line is defined by a single breaker and a run of wire directly to a single outlet. There are no other outlets or switches connected. Further, all three wires (hot, neutral and ground) are dedicated to that single outlet. So the procedure above gets you a virtual dedicated line if done with care. Eliminate non-audio devices on the circuit and improve the splices and connection points.

Moderation and prudence when installing dedicated lines. " If one is good, two are better and one for every component is the bomb!" Right? --- Yeah not so fast mate. One is definitely a huge advantage. Two can be better - one for all source equipment and another for the amps. But installing multiple dedicate lines will often introduce a very vexing problem - ground loops and hum and buzzing.

This is the best, clearest explanation I have heard! Thanks for sharing...

Welcome to AA Caelin! I am very interested in your products and look froward reading your replies to our questions. And thank you for that awesome tutorial on home electricity. Wow, that was exactly what I was looking for!!

I do have a question that another member brought up in the cables forum. In your video ( see link below), you mention splitting EMR into its constituent electrical and magnetic components (my paraphrase). However, on a site dealing with radio and antennas i just found, they claim these parts are inseparable. Unfortunately, this is far beyond my knowledge. Is it really possible to do this?
Video Link: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXwRTzJZ7Y0[/ame]

Thank you and with the utmost respect
Ron

Thank you for the question. A five minute video, nor a marketing brochure cannot delve into the technicalities involved with the ZTron technology. So I would simply refer you to the pending international patents that are available online at the USPTO it you or your friend are looking for a physics level explanation.

However, I am not ducking your qusetion and will the give best answer without getting into the details described in the patents.

Your friend is correct, a constrained electromagnetic wave cannot be disassociated from its constituent parts - those being the E field (electric field) and the H field (magnetic field). What is described in the patent is a method to split the E wave and the H wave and carry them via separate conductors. However, the two fields are still coincident and conjoined. That means that they are still intertwined at a quantum level and each affects the other.

In the patent we say that the center conductor carries the majority of the current and therefore the preponderance of the H field while the second conductor that surrounds the center conductor carries little (about 70 times less) current and hence it predominates in the transmission of the E field.

The net effect is that the characteristic impedance is lowered by almost a factor of two, skin effect is reduced and dielectric polarization is minimized. For the audiophile, it simply means that the signal that exits the cable is closer to the source signal that enters the cable. That is what the video clearly demonstrates.

Caelin,

I have two Python CX power cables with 20 amp connectors. I am looking at amp upgrades, and they use 15 amp connectors. Have you done any DTCD measurements of these cable with your 20-15 adapter? I am wondering if doing that would detract any benefit I get from upgrading the amps.

Thanks for your help, and I love your products.
