A heavily modified Ref40

PSUs do look exactly similar in both models but it's difficult to identify individual resistor etc, transformers are similar types and sizes.

Btw, I agree modding REF10 over 40. Unique model vs regular series. Anyway any modded unit is no longer original, what would be the point of modding if otherwise...

The different transformers are the toroidal on the right. Not the r-core on the left.
The 10's toroidal are said to be shielded while the ref 40's are not.

Re the 40, A dilemma for sure, retain the factory build originality or incrementally improve on those factory componants ( most if not all gear being built to a componant cost/RRP economy of scale)

It is really nicely done. I just doubt how it will sound like.
All caps are said to be of same value but better spec.
