iSeries End of Life for USA???

A PMC dealer just told me that the iSeries will no longer be available in the USA. Is this true?

Is PMC phasing them out now in all markets? Just USA?

Mitch.......I got that email from PMC not long ago about the SE versions of the speakers you mention. I would be surprised to see them drop the i versions all together. Perhaps they are dropping the standard i version finish of cherry and walnut in favor of the premium veneers.

Spoke with PMC today and the Ib2i and above are not going anywhere......they will still offer the standard and upgraded models in the reference i series (IB2i, MB2i and above). The new twenty series will eventually replace the first four models in the i series DB1i, TB2i, GB1i, FB1i) as we sort of already new that.....as for the OB1i and PB1i these would be the next on the chopping block as they expand the 20 series. So the way I look at it is the DB1i up to the PB1i will eventually go away with the 20 series expanding. I was also told its not an overnight thing....the i series will remain for awhile.

I really liked many aspects of my PB1i Signatures but they were just a tad slow even with significant amounts of power/current driving them.

I didn't want either an IB2i or an MB2i as I don't like the looks of either of these speakers and I think it's a huge shame that PMC haven't produced a premium finish floorstander so far.

I upgraded to a pair of Wilson Benesch ACT C60's and boy what a big difference but the rrp is more than double the PB1i Signatures.

I've got a far more agile bass, better mid range, inbuilt super tweeter, carbon fibre cabinets, aluminium plinth, proper spikes, sloping tops, beautiful speaker inputs, sailboat backs.

They look and sound glorious but I would have loved to have stayed with PMC although Wilson Benesch is another long established UK brand.

It is time that PMC upped their game on quality and domestic looks. What might be ok in a studio is not ok in a listening room. Great sounds can be produced from an elegant and smart box as Sonus Faber have confirmed for many years.

So I welcome the forthcoming demise of the i series and hope that PMC will produce an MB2i priced floorstander perhaps in a standard and SE version.
