Default Trevor's System / Build aka: thxthx

Thought I would start a thread on my system, but also include photos of the build and how it progressed. Hope you find it interesting and can bare with me as I will add photos overtime...

This is the room that is to be the Cinema Room. Unfortunately this photo is from the real estate agent's advertisement.

The day we got the keys we implemented operation "strip house"...

From the kitchen area looking into the Cinema Room.

The room had two skinny windows at the back and a sliding door to the outside on the side. I had them both bricked in.

100_1945.jpg

I built a cavity to reduce the size of the doorway but also to house my equipment rack in a way that I could access all the wiring from the back. The kitchen in the background was also gone a few days later

100_1960.jpg

I installed extra thick acoustic plaster board and sound bats. Certainly not sound proof, but sound treated (all done on a budget).

On the left is where the sliding door use to be (similar photo position as the very first photo).

100_2028.jpg

From the kitchen area looking into the Cinema Room. You can see the door area I have at the back of my equipment rack to access my wiring. I have found this essential with any Hi-Fi gear. Slowly taking shape...

Stay tuned for more...

Awesome Trevor!

I hope you have plenty of draw strings for your pre-wire. Did you end up running conduit before closing up?

This was my first attempt at a dedicated room and I am certainly no professional but lots of lessons learnt and lots of things I'd do differently next time.
