Dan.......In the time I have owned my C2300 I have had three different moving magnet phono cartridges on my Micro Seiki turntable. The last one was the well respected Ortofon 2M Black. I thought it sounded excellent with the Telefunken 12AX7 tubes in the moving magnet phono stage. Recently I decided to try a moving coil cartridge and purchased the Ortofon Cadenza Blue. I moved the Telefunken tubes to the moving coil phono stage and was expecting a performance bump. What I got was a major performance improvement. The Orotfon Cadenza Blue moving coil phono cartridge is fabulous. It produces deep authoritative bass response, a wonderful midrange with plenty of separation between voices and instruments. The Cadenza Blue creates a wide and deep sound stage and an overall frequency response that doesn't exaggerate one octave over another. Going to a moving coil phono cartridge with my C2300 was the best thing to happen to my vinyl listening experience on the living room system. I should have made the transition long before I did.

My recommendation to you is to purchase some good quality NOS 12AX7 tubes for your moving coil phono stage (Siemens, Telefunken, Philips JAN, RCA Black Plates) and a good pair of line stage 12AX7's as well. I use Gold Lion's in the line stage of my C2300. Then purchase a quality moving coil phono cartridge (Ortofon, Lyra, Benz, Clearaudio among others) and begin to take full advantage of the fine moving coil phono stage in the C2300. I am positive you will be thoroughly impressed with the move up and will never return to moving magnet cartridges again.

Dan
When I had my Mac. I used a HO MC - Benz Glider SH. It seemed to work well. I also agree with upgrading the tubes. It makes a bigger difference then you might think
