Jason.......As you can see from the impedance and phase measurements from the Stereophile magazine review of the Guarneri Evolution, the speaker never dips below 4 ohms. In fact the speaker only touches 4 ohms at 4500 Hz. The majority of the frequency range sees the impedance well above 8 ohms. This may be why you are preferring the 8 ohm taps on the PrimaLuna Dialogue HD. None the less, after you have a couple hundred hours on the Evo's and the amp you may want to revisit the 4 ohm taps just to see what you think.

I have been reading that PrimaLuna runs their tubes at a much lower level of their max capacity so the tube life is significantly higher than with other brands.

I do like the AutoBias circuitry.

Hi Dan,

It has maybe 22-25 hours of play time on it so far. Honestly, I spent quite a bit of time today playing with speaker position, so what I hear right now might not be too accurate as it relates to burn in of the amplifier and more likely due to speaker position changes. I will post an update in a day or two once everything has settled a bit.
I try to play it most of the day if I am going to be around and then also cycle it off for a bit every few hours for maybe a 45 minute break in between. Might be difficult to give everybody an honest accurate assessment as the speakers are breaking in at the same time...?

I've heard that the PL amps are cool running...any comparison how much heat it generates vs the REF110?

Both are plenty hot. Not really a temperature difference as far as I can tell.
The PL's are run at a lower bias voltage to ensure longer tube life, but it still has 14 tubes in it, so lots of heat.
