What's the word on your order? Mine took quite a while. They also need a lot of break in, 200+ hours before they really start to sing. But they are well worth the wait!

Why don't you do MC601s for the mains and the MC303 for the center and surrounds? I think that would be a nice combo.
M-L is doing a special stain match to my Paradigm Sub1's. The expected date is the end of November.

As for the amps; after a lot of theater listening, I have concluded that having the same amp for all three fronts provides the best sonic and dynamic presentation. I believe that the most common mistake made in theater design is to mismatch the center speaker amp. The 303 is a good match, but a 3-pack of 601's, I believe, will be better.

When the M-L rep was here helping with the demo setup, he stressed a break in of 100hrs.

Three matching amps up front are optimal. Are you putting a Stage in the center? I'm watching to see if one pops up used in the Northeast that I can grab cheaply.

The custom match stain should be awesome. Be patient, my stock finish speakers took quite a while. But it was worth the wait!

I have been using a Stage for some time with my Prodigy's. I like it very much and I hope your efforts are successful.

I am currently in the process of debating an upgrade from Summit X's to CLX's. I have a demo booked for a couple of weeks time.

Have you an experience of these two speakers?? I am looking at a pair of anniversary editions - meant to be better due to the rigidity of the frames.

Thanks
M.

I have not heard the Summit X's.

Incredibly, I've never listened to any Martin Logan other than the CLXes!

I like the way the Art frame looks better. A few people, included some folks at ML, have said that there is no difference in the sound. New Arts come with the better power cable and, I believe the better binding posts. The Anniversary's may have better long term resale.

Marck, given your recent change to ARC tube amps on your 'hybrid' Summitt X's they may or may not be to your liking on the all panel CLX's. Your room size is is fine for the CLX to the point that a sub....or two would really help with the bottom two octaves.

Given your preference for female voice and jazz I'm still not sure 'how much' better the CLX will seem. Remember the mid-upper freq panel on the CLX is actually smaller than the Summitt.

I suspect your upcoming demo should answer that for you.

Agreed, it will be very interesting to hear them in my room. At least then I will know if they are better or not than the Summit X's.

Thank you
M.

Many folks have said that the CLXes are happier with big solid state amps. My MC501's seem to be a great fit. However I can't help but wonder how some nice smooth tubes might sound. The first time I heard them were on a pair of McIntosh MC275's and that was my "you had me at hello moment". I would love to hear how they sound with MC2301's.

Make sure to bring some not so great recordings on your demo. There is a dramatic difference between different recordings.

Let us know how the demo goes!

So the demo is going to be at my home so will have all my cd's to choose from. It will also allow me to hear exactly what they sound like in my room.

Still waiting to get confirmation date, but it will be either Friday 18th or 25th November. So not too long to wait!!

Btw, I used to have a big Krell FPB700cx which I swapped out for my new ARC amp. I have to say the ARC is wonderful - and it is not even burnt in yet.
