Default Longmire ending (with spoilers)

As I've mentioned in other threads, I love the series "Longmire". It's really a fantastic show with well developed characters and stories that always make you feel like you are in the middle of the action. The beauty of the outdoors is always shown in beautifully shot scenes. Highly recommended.

However, the last episode of the series rubbed me the wrong way.

***spoiler alert***

1. Vic and walt just don't belong together. It seemed forced all throughout the series. In the end it just felt wrong to me. The big sex scene was way out of character for the whole series, too.

2. How in the world can Cady be the sheriff? No experience. She never even considered it before. Suddenly its her calling? And she just hooked up with Zach. That was welcome, but it can't continue if she becomes the sheriff. Or he can't be a cop, which is HIS calling.

3. What happened to Travis?

4. What happened to nighthorse? If he went to jail, I don't think it would be for long. He is only guilty of taking a loan from the mob, not trafficking drugs.

5. The ferg is going to marry that nurse after only dating for a few months? Seems hurried. And we don't even know if she said yes.

6. I did like Henry running the casino. That part was nice, but what about the red pony?

7. Walt always seemed to have disdain for the treasure hunters, but then he turned into one?

Anybody else love the series but turned off by the final episode?

Yes sir, I am of the same sentiment. My wife had much disdain for the Walt - - - Vic relational drama, and she felt a certain “creepiness” that bothered her. Your point # 6 reflecting upon Henry is about the best item that brings the show to a conclusion. Overall the finale was disappointing. Thanks for sharing.

I have to agree. I am also a big fan of the show. But the last episode just did not make much sense. Vic belongs with Travis and Cady would make a horrible sheriff.

We caught up to the last episode last night, and it was indeed a bit disappointing. We had to fast forward through the sex scene, it was just too weird, and the silly conversation on the porch the next morning didn’t improve on it. And Henry in a suit running a casino, and Cady as sheriff with her new lover working for her, made no sense at all. Ferg felt right through.

I was a bit disappointed as well; seems like the show's creators wanted to create a Happy Ending across the board. It would have been better if things ended with some more drama, questions to mull over, etc...like the incredibly good series, Intelligence, that got canned by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting) after the second season. One of the best shows I've ever seen, along with Longmire.

As I'm not thru season 6, thanks to Marc for the spoiler alert.
"Longmire" is definitely one of the more enjoyable series. However, I am getting a bit tired of Victoria. Hopefully, they will shoot her dead before the end.

Another entertaining series is the BBC's "Vera".

Well sorry, she doesn't get killed. But definitely read this thread when you are finished, it seems like everyone agrees the last episode is the worst one of them all

Well really just the last half an hour.

The 6th series was progressively more sappy all the way thru with Walt & Vic.
With the original questions one can add questions about the bad sheriff from the neighboring county, the local mayor, etc. Guess the writers were just trying to get it over with.
Time to go find "Grinder", though only 2-seasons.

My wife and I had many of the same questions posed in the OP. I have no issue with Walt and Vic ending up together but it could have been built up differently. Now my wife was against it and felt Vic was way too push.

As far as comparing this to other final episodes I felt this one was did a better job than most even if there were a few loose ends.
