Used B&W 803D3 , last gen B&W 802D2, Martin Logan SummitX

All 3 of those will have enough grunt to handle without a subwoofer.

Agree. Dynaudio Contour 60 needs to be on your list. I have the Contour 30 matched with MC601s, the 60 is the speaker I wanted all along. McIntosh and Dyn are an excellent pairing.

Another speaker you should audition is the new Paradigm Persona 3F or 5F. I listened to the 5F at a dealer the other day and was very impressed. Their beryllium tweeter and mid range driver have elevated Paradigm into the best in class group of high end speaker manufacturers. Since the Persona line is so new, there are few, if any reviews published yet. Being that you live in Canada, I suspect you have plenty of Paradigm dealers close by that might have some on hand for you to audition.

while I agree with your last sentence given the Op's room specifics that he listed I would not recommend the Logan's or any di-pole.

With the performance of the McIntosh MC452, I would buy the speaker with the best quality mid-range. Of those brands mentioned, JBL meets this criteria by a factor of 20+.

The 804D3 and Focal 1028BE sounded amazing to me with the MC452 (focal was slightly more forward than the B&W). Focal Supra 2 would also be a great choice (Although it would come in at above 10k, but below $13,500)

Oh man, so many great speakers to choose from. I'm having trouble shortening my list. A few have been disqualified by virtue of not being avaiable here. Something I forgot to mention in my original post is that speakers over 150 pounds each are also out.I have to bring thease speakers down a tight a narrow stairway. Have any of you heard either the Scansonic MB 5 loudspeakers or Legacy Signature se's with your own ears? Or even better, with a mc 452? Thanks Broski's.
