I actually had an almost identical experience mounting my acoustic art panels above my sofa. Luckily they're on opposite wall from all my equipment and mine just hit me on the head.

Uggh.... so sorry..... but... it is only money.... as long as nothing is permanent..... Does this open the door to the question ....'Why digital is better than analog??' ... I couldn't resist...

Timm in my system it’s a toss up for which is better, but right now digital is much better since my analog rig won’t make a sound!!!!

LOL.... I see you have a directstream as do I .... I do like it a lot... but - I love VPI as well... that is where I would go if I ever decided to love vinyl again....

But - what you are really saying here is... your VPI rig has a low noise floor?? hey we gotta keep it light.... I am hoping you get to 100% - no dings...no scratch... new tonearm... and a cartridge that is perfecto.....

If it makes you feel better, I used to have my turntable set above my line of sight.

I was removing the peripheral ring and my hand I thought brushed my Lyra Kleos.

Tore the cantilever completely off and never found it.
