Just wanted say that there are other less well known for use with Harbeths. The Ayon Crossfire sounds absolutely incredible and the Constellation Argo integrated also works incredibly well.

That's great input, thank you, Caelin. Something to put into the notes for possible future listening sessions.

I've not had the pleasure of hearing the Harberths on either of your recommendations...yet. The Ayon is your SET amp, IIRC? And, I don't think I've ever heard Constellation gear, so I must do that some time. Maybe someone at the CA Audio Show at the end of July will be auditioning Constellation; I will check into that.

I'll be joining an audio buddy down at The Analog Room in San Jose on Saturday to listen to 30.1s and Compact 7s, and will report back on what electronics we used to listen to those...

I saw a video the other day with a pair of 30.2s being driven by an 8 Wpc Viva integrated, and it sounded pretty spectacular, even over YouTube. I'm familiar with Viva electronics as a local dealer in Walnut Creek used to carry them.

Cheers.

Yeah, I've never heard them sound congested in the mids, either, the mids are Harbeth's whole raison d'être....

But, I've got enough complex classical music to find out...some Prokofiev (Romeo and Juliet Ballet with the Chicago Symphony on London FFRR vinyl) will suss all that out. If that isn't enough, I've got some challenging Beethoven string quartets to throw at them.

My guess is the 'Beths will handle it all with aplomb...

Very cool. I know that track very well. Melody is great because she uses the control of her breath and breathing as part of the texture of her voice and singing.

What did you use to record that with, Serge? Did you use something with an external microphone?

thanks,
Stephen

Nope, just the iPhone. You are hearing just a fraction of what they really sound like in the room. You’ll have to wait until your pair arrives

My local Harbeth dealer is also a Naim, Hegel, and Pass dealer. Sounds promising for some good symmetry.

Yes, I know.

I looked up Overture AV and looked at the brands they carried. That's why I made those suggestions.
