Not quite yet, but I have given them the thumbs up. My only hesitation was, given the room size, whether I would notice much a difference, other than the bass and of course the aesthetics.

The mid/high panels are pretty similar and near as I can tell the mid-bass drivers are the same. However, in the 2.1 it looks like the 2 mid-bass now have their own cabinet and that it will will be a larger volume, which I suppose gives the designer/engineers more room to do their thing. I also like that the crossover from mid-bass to mid-high is shifted from 400 to 450, which should free up the 901s tubes a bit, also moving the cross from the mid-high to the treble from 2K to 2.1K. The extra db sensitivity won't hurt either.

Also, being taller by a foot is a good thing for a line-array.

You're right, Charles. I moved everything else up the MC food chain, it was probably just a matter of time. With all of these separates and amps, the 1.1s are starting to look a little diminutive; don't think that'll be an issue with the 2.1s.

And then their's that bass! With about 2.25 times more surface area, the 2.1s are in another league.

So yes, using all of the above to convince myself and all of your enthusiastic support, I made the call. I'm curious how long it will take. I'll keep you posted.

PS: if you don’t already have Stillpoints Ultra SS feet under your existing speakers, I highly recommend you get them for your 2.1’s.

The improvement is not subtle; and I have a crazy sale on them going on right now too in the Marketplace.

Rob, absolute congrats!! You have made very wise decisions. I completely agree with Ivan on the purchase. This is a speaker that you can enjoy for many years and know that you have one of the best speakers in the world. I am so happy for you i just don't have the words to fully express myself.

Best

Charles

Thanks Charles! Now just need to get my racks sorted and I should be set for awhile; well, unless I decide to swap the Marantz for a Mc pre/pro at some point.
