So I suppose live the rotors tend to disappear when spinning ? The camera 'stops' them at a given point. I get it, thanks!

Correct. In fact before the preferred blade speed could be adjusted through the use electronics, we used to use an optical tachometer. One would look through the viewfinder and when the blades stopped completely while adjusting the shutter speed, you would have an adjusted readout of the main rotor rpm.
