Default Bookshelf speaker recommendation

Currently using the kef ls50 wireless with JL audio sub. They sound great but a bit small for my large room.

Looking for something better with $3k budget

Reynaud Bliss Silver if Bob at Amherst Audio in Massachusetts still has any inventory. Another option is the new Totem Signature One to be released later in the month and reviewed in this months Tone magazine.

The new Dynaudio "Special 40" are rumored to be coming in around 3K and should be an excellent speaker.

Give the PMC twenty5.21 a listen. The bass output is amazing for a speaker of this size and they do great against the wall and on a bookshelf.

We listened to a variety of 'bookshelf' speakers earlier this year. Ended up with the Dynaudio Special 40's - will meet your budget and a very good speaker. However, we also have the KEF LS-50's in another location. The Special 40's are great, but may not be enough for a larger space. The Special 40's are in a 14' x 16' space, as are the the LS-50's.

Another contender, a very different look, was the ATC speakers (British). Sealed design, so they can go close to walls. Brought home the SCM 19 - a bit big for our space, perhaps suited to yours. A little over your budget. Note that the low frequency roll-off in the sealed design is much less pronounced than a ported design. Good Stereophile review here:
