I have owned a lot of amps in my lifetime both solid state and tubes. The D'Agostino amps are the ultimate monoblock amplifiers for me. They do love Wilson, and vice versa! Charles again congratulations as I envy you right now. Now that I have relocated to another state and with a larger dedicated room I would love to have a pair. That will have to wait as my first priority is to get the room ready first. I will live my dream through you!

I can tell you from experience that Macs have adequate damping factor. I have a lot of experience with Wilsons and can tell you that I would not want anymore damping in my bass. As you know there is such a thing as over damped bass as well as under damped bass. The speaker to which Jim is referring has a sensitivity of 82 and a ridiculously low impedance to boot. I looked it up for myself. My Alexx bass is superb. Couldn't be better. The Alexx sounds so good in my room that I wonder how any speaker could sound better. That's the reason I feel confident about the XVX. So does my dealer and so does Wilson.

When you use a Dag do you use a power conditioner for each amp or one for two amps or none at all? It is the ability of the amp to pull the necessary current from the wall that is critical. Dags do a superb job of this. Absolutely superb. I use one Niagara 5000 per amp and 12,000.00 of power cords per amp and one dedicated 20 amp line per amp to ensure my 1.25KW's are operating at their peak. I know the Dag sound well because I employed a Krell FPB 700 until the thing literally died and then I had it rebuilt after it lasted about 10 years. I loved it. But I also love the Mac sound which is without going into detail a marvelous sound with my Alexx.

There is good news on the installation front. Some potential issues with the spiking have been eliminated which makes me feel much better. Wilson really is a great company to work with. I can't say enough about their willingness to work with the customer. I have good reason to at this point believe that my XVX will be able to be comfortably located in my room with adequate ceiling clearance and good separation between the tweeters.

p.s. With my FPB 700 I did use not use a power conditioner. I used a KK 20 amp Palladian power cord directly into a dedicated 20 amp wall socket. Krell recommended no power conditioner. Do you use a power conditioner with your Dags?

Thank you so much! I have looked up how to move heavy objects up a flight of stairs and the XVX should no problem if the problem is approached properly. Also, the spiking has become a solved concern. I notice you have Maxx3's. One of the pleasant surprises I got that was noticeable immediately was the improvement in the bass over my Maxx3's. It is not that the 3's have bad bass but the new Wilson woofers the Alexx employs are superior to the old Focal woofers. With your Progression amps I think you would be surprised at the difference. The Focal woofers are slow compared to the new woofers.

I believe in sound signatures. If I switched to Dags I would have to change out my whole system to Dags. I'm not remotely going to do this. I know the Dag sound very well. I don't see how it could be much better. Macs sound different but are very pleasing to my ears. Would I switch from Mac to Dag if given the chance. Tough question but I would probably stick with my current setup. I have put so much thought and effort into my current system, I would be loath to change it even though I have tremendous respect for the Dag. The Dag has everything and I mean everything I look for in an amp. It measures superb, sounds superb, and looks superb. The only nitpick I could have is the needles. Mac meters and needles are much better, but that's really nitpicking.

I like a nimble quick vibrant sound that is very coherent, with plenty of bass. On my Alexx listening to Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash and Earl Scruggs on "Traveling Through 1967 - 1" is an experience I wish everyone could have. Makes you want to get up an dance.

These speakers deliver a wide range of sound handling all types of music very well!

We listened to the XVX’s powered by Momentum’s that despite the speaker size gripped them with complete authority - cables were from Transparent and digital DCS Vivaldi.

As you probably know, from order is about 6/8 weeks. The paint alone on the color shown takes 3 weeks to cure.

These are of envy, and hope you enjoy them at great lengths!

These are dream speakers. Dean Martin was in the room! Beautiful to behold, with the sound to back it up. Another home run by Wilson.

Yes, as Marc and Ed said, these are awesome speakers. We heard a real spread of musical genres, from classical chamber music to the Stones, and the sense of presence was amazing.

I have taken a huge chance on this speaker for me. Typically, I'm conservative and don't rush into anything and from an installation standpoint I have been very careful to make all the measurements. But typically I wait at least a year after production begins to buy a speaker. Also, this pales anything I have ever done in high end audio into total oblivion. I still have to pinch myself to believe I actually did this. Did I actually purchase a pair of these things? Yep! I did. Incredible.

I really did buy this thing at the checkout scanner at Walmart. That particular scanner will always be memorialized in my memory. I was smitten by this speaker the moment I saw it and heard its description. I am so happy you like its sound. Its very beautiful and I believe it will work visually in my room because of its narrow footprint. Wilson has been so supportive I will always remember their kindness toward me.

I have not asked about a delivery date because I am not anxious at all about receiving the XVX. I have a wonderful speaker in my Alexx. I am much more interested in Wilson taking their time and supplying me a perfect speaker and also my dealer being totally prepared. They are actually looking forward to the task. I appreciate knowing that "6/8 weeks". I would anticipate the first or second week in January for the install date. If it comes sooner that's ok but I am much more interested in everything being ready than doing anything in a rush.

I just got all the details with the spike worked out. Wilson has sent me extensive pics of the spike. I have read the spiking procedure carefully and understand how it will be modified. Engineering at Wilson has cleared the modified procedure. It's very simple and elegant. Although in reality I don't think it makes much difference, the XVX will be able to be spiked about 1/2" off my hardwood floor on the typical metal slider. But emotionally this means a lot to me because it means that Wilson is not just interested in selling a speaker. They are interested in the customer.

Typically, I would have had all this figured out before I remotely considered something like this.
