Good shootin' Glenn, you did much better than I did this weekend at a Clay Tournament. To say I 'stunk the joint' out would be an understatement !

Thank you to both. We all get our turn to 'stink' regardless of what we compete in. Part of the deal.

Been 'out of it' since some health issues caught up with me in May '17. All taken care of except old-age. Only one way that ends. My days with high power and BP are finished, but still enjoy our local .22 rimfire matches. We shoot a 60-animal silhouette match out to 200m. Off-hand at chickens (50m), any-position with no artificial support (elbows are good) at prairie dogs (75m), any position with crossed-sticks for pigs (100m), turkeys (150m) & rams (200m). Any safe rifle & sights are the deal and the range record is 56/60. I've been pedaling a CZ-452 American for the last year, but working the bolt spoils one's position each shot. So, ordered up a Kidd 10/22 and Boyd's stock. Kidd has a great rep in .22LR circles, so hope it is at least as accurate as the CZ-452, which was very competitive. No longer need to cycle the bolt. 6.5-20X-44mm side-focus Leupold on top. Went with a bit of 'bling' with the fluted barrel & muzzle brake. Should be great fun.

Nicely done! Report back after you get some range time with it.

Cool rig Glenn ! Have you ever done the 'Rimfire Challenge' ? Oxford has a match once a month, I'm afraid to go and checkout it out for fear that I'll get 'hooked ' !

Terry - will do. Plan is to get ammo testing done this week (waiting the arrival of new rings as the ones shown are too high for optimum cheek-weld). First match is the 1st Sunday in May.

Dave - have not done so. Tell me more and we should plan to shoot it in August or October (or other months, depending on dates). Will be shooting the .22BPCRA nationals at Raton, NM July 1-3. Always a fun venue.

Nice thing about .22RF competition is a competitive rifle/scope costs about the same as a good pair of XLR ICs. And, you generally only own one as opposed to 3 or more sets of ICs (though............ who only owns one of anything that we enjoy? ).

Edit: Got the lower rings and everything sighted-in. But, last Sunday was rained out and same again today for our high power match. May have to shoot our weekly benchrest league just to get some rounds down the barrel.

I enjoy a local bullseye league. Im an ok shooter scoring in the 270’s most nites.

I use a modded smith and wesson model 41 from the 1970’s for the rimfire portion and a Les Baer 45 w a dick horton grip for the centerfire and 45 cal portions.

Great league and great fun but not alotta young shooters involved

Will guess you are shooting at Cherry Ridge and/or Central Jersey. When I was shooting service rifle I enjoyed shooting at CJ. John's 300yd 'state championship' was always fun, with ~100 competitiors, a BBQ and the best prize drawing for any match I've attended.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate the next two weekends and we'll get to shoot our June matches before heading west for the .22BPCR nats at Raton, NM. The nats will have ~150 competitors.

Edit - got to shoot the new rifle in the 1st match. Did tolerably well at 150m, but failed miserably 200m and then the off-hand at 50m. Recovered well at 75 & 100m and finished very much mid-pack. Better next time. 2nd match was, again, rained out. Heading west later this week. Will shoot the 2-day 22BPCRA nationals July 1-3. Was 3rd AA after a shoot-off last year. Don't expect to do as well this, with the lack of trigger-time.

2nd edit - as expected, was decidedly mid-pack. At the lower end of mid-pack. Need some serious 'trigger time'. The two fellows I shot with did much better. Bill was 8th (out of 33) in AAA and Pete was 2nd OA after a shoot-off in the combined A/B. Pete shot well enough that he moved up to AA for future shoots. Have to get in some practice so I can acquit myself better next year. To that end I just purchased a Stevens Model 44 (see pic). Have to install the Lyman 77R front sight and MVA #130 rear and it will be ready to go. Unfortunately, travel demands will limit my shooting until mid-Sept.

I compete to train. I don't have fancy guns, I have fighting guns. Glocks, 1911s Noveske MSRs, AK's and some 22s for survival.

Who are you going to fight? Expecting an invasion? What is it that you need to survive?
