jorsan and Formerly YB-2,
I've often thought a Shindo listening session paired with its wine counterpart would be a fun (and pricey) event! From a purely wine perspective, I'd pour in the following order: Corton Charlemagne Montrachet (seems almost "criminal" to pour these amazing white Burgs from these appellations first) Montille (Volnay or Pommard) Vosne Romanee (so many great domaines; a difficult choice!) Chateau Monbrison Chateau Giscours Chateau Lagrange Masseto Chateau Petrus Chateau Lafite Chateau Latour Chateau D'Yquem But what genre of music would do justice to these wines and their amazing Shindo components? Happy Listening, Swirling and Tasting! Closdesducs |

My apologies for going very off topic jorsan, but I took a closer look at my avatar and the wines in the pic were from a Burgundy tasting I hosted in 2014 featuring the wines of Pommard.
Looking back at my old TNs, the following wines from my cellar were poured for a group of ten fellow winos and later their wives and SO's (this list is by vintage not the pouring order): 90 Michel Ganoux Pommard, Grands Epenots 90 Camille Giroud Pommard, Clos des Epeneaux 93, 96 & 99 Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 96 Jadot Pommard, Grands Epenots 98 Courcel Pommard, Les a Rugiens 98 Jadot Pommard, Rugiens 98 Montille Pommard, Les Rugiens 98 Leroy Pommard, Les Vignots 99 Joseph Voillot Pommard, Les Rugiens 99 Vougeraie Pommard, Les Petits Noizon 99 Courcel Pommard, Les Fremiers 99 Pierre Morey Pommard, Grands Epenots 99 Jean Luc Joillot Pommard, Les Rugiens 01 Girardin Pommard, Les Rugiens All of the wines showed well (no corked wines which is always a relief). Standouts for me were the Courcel, Montille, Voillot, Comte Armand and Giroud bottlings. All of the wines showed the terroir of Pommard very well. On other occasions, we've done Volnay and Chambolle Musigny tastings. I seem to recall a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, no music was playing as we were concentrating so intently on the wines! [emoji51][emoji848] |

Your recommended wines, like Shindo gear, are beyond what I'm willing to pay for the privilege. Luckily, Chateau Latour has "more reasonably" priced, but still excellent vins. In the meantime we will have to stay with Charmes-Chambertin and Chateau La Tour Grand Cru as we still have a couple of bottles from 2000 in the cellar. Unfortunately, dont' think there is a "more reasonably" priced set of Shindo gear that will work for me.

Formerly YB-2,
Very early in my wine adventures (circa 1992/1993), I remember seeing side by side in a well stocked retail store in Orange County, a 77 Ch. Latour and a 90 Ch. Latour. The former was $70 and the latter was $90. After pacing around the store and muttering to myself for 15-30 minutes, my limited budget "won out" and I bought, cellared and eventually drank the '77. Like the ghostly knight in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" said, "I chose poorly". [emoji849] Of course back in 92/93, my HiFi setup was my post-college system consisting of a Technics SL-Q2 TT with an Audio Technica moving magnet cartridge, and Onkyo 1500 mkii receiver, Monster cables, an Akai tape deck, and a pair of Bose 301's. Life was simpler then... Happy Listening, closdesducs |

This was done many years ago as I recall seeing an article on it. I've pestered JH about recreating it as I'm one of very few Master Sommeliers in the world and to my knowledge the only one with a full Shindo system. Cobbling together some of those models/wines would be pricey indeed but would be super fun.
