My first integrated amp was the lovely Nakamichi Amplifier 1 which I bought back in 1991. Back then, and even today it looked very smart and contemporary, worked beautifully & sounded wonderful. It only needed one minor service to re-solder a few dried solders in 18 years..you have to love Nakamichi.

If I wanted an integrated amp today, the 4 amps on my audition list list would be (in this order) Vitus SIA-025, Dartzeel CTH-8550, Boulder 865 & Simaudio 700i. For synergy, I would be tempted to go for the Vitus, but could be happy with any of those 4. But my Boulder amps are very happily in residence at Chez Bodhi!

If I wanted an integrated amp today, the 3 amps on my audition list list would be (in this order) Vitus SIA-025, Dartzeel CTH-8550 & Mcintosh MA-7000. Nakamichi is one good brand. My AV10 receiver (1999) is still in service with good punch. Using it for 2 channel is not bad neither. It is also a hefty one compared to AV receivers nowadays.

Great to see you're still enjoying the sound of your AV10 after all these years Ken It shows they don't make em like they used to.

First was a Bryston B-60RP. Bryston built the first B-60R with a phono-stage (hence, the P) for me. Great little integrated, as is all Bryston gear I've owned. Then a McIntosh MA6850. Another great integrated and want another. Moved to Europe and picked up a Sony ST-F444ESII upon return. Liked it enough to trade up to a Sony ST-F808ES (another keeper). Traded it for a McIntosh MA6900, which simply could not get to sound good to my ears (several sets of speakers tried). Then a stint with vintage Yamaha. The CA-2010 is terrific integrated that can be selected to operate in full Class A. But, could not live without a remote so picked up a McIntosh MA2275. IMHO, is one of McIntosh's modern mistakes. To my ears it sounds nothing like McIntosh. Even worse than the MA6900. Last McIntosh integrated was the current MA6600. McIntosh got it right, again (like the MA6800). I've owned mostly McIntosh separates as a main system over the years and judge their integrated amps on the basis of what I hear from their separates. The MA6800 & 6600 are excellent pieces and am looking for another at the moment. In the meantime, am listening to a Bel Canto S300i 150wpc Class D integrated. Got same as have not owned a Bel Canto product or Class D amp. Am quite pleasantly surprised at the excellent sound playing through the Klipsch Heresy IIIs. Thought it might be a very 'bright' combination, but it has turned out to be a good match. Listening to Sharon Isbin playing guitar and it is excellent.

Default Something special about two becoming one.

Primary system integrated amp is the McIntosh MA6600, a dream fulfilled in obtaining a Mc piece. From sound to features to build, love it, love it. It best even my Quest for Sound SQ-88 tube integrated. Amazingly good is my Marantz PM8004.

My current integrated is the second hybrid I have owned but the first that is Class “A” I also believe this will be my last integrated amplifier, it is by far the most musical and enjoyable integrated I have yet owned. Have to credit Pathos, they build a pretty amazing product.

My first integrated was a 50w p/ch Lafayette unit purchased new in 1971, along with an AR Turntable these were my first "hi-fi" components.

Now, I am in the process of transitioning from my mid 90s Carver Seperates to a new Integrated. Looks like the finalists are: MA6600 and 507u.

Gonna do some more research and pull the trigger early next year.
