This is the only place where you lost me a bit... because my Rossini does have built in streaming (I use Roon) .. you might be thinking of the dCS Vivaldi that requires a special separate upsample box? So does that change your advice with regards to needing a second Digital Coax cable?

A total gold mine of info Martin thanks! ... and re-enforced my original thought of putting the DG-68 before the Pre-amp, but down stream of all other components .. I have no pure Analogue sources (right now).

-HS-Link2 for SACD into DG-68

-Coax Digital from DG-68 into Rossini for all diigital except the SACD (which for me is basically just CD via DP-560).

-then Rossini XLR into DG-68 which then in turn goes into the Pre-amp?

That it in a nutshell? (edit, wait see post #36 below for point of confusion)

BTW; the DG-68 includes very nice HS-Link2 cables. You can however always upgrade them.

And to further re-enforce my plans... I just heard back from John Quick of dCS...

-----------------------------------------

Sam,

Happy to speak next week, but I've had a look at the DG68 online and recommend you use its analog inputs and outputs AFTER all your digital sources are processed by the Rossini DAC.

As for the DP-560- you should be feeding its digital output into the Rossini DAC, sync mode should be 'A' for Audio, and you should be attaching a pair of analog XLRs from the SACD player to your Mc preamp for SACD playback as it will downsample SACD to 16/44.1 from its digital outputs... however, this does bypass the DG68 unless you swap analog outputs of Rossini and DP560 to DG68.

Hope this helps.

Have a great weekend!

John

I have the cable from the DP-560 but when I read the DG-68 pamphlet it didn't mention a HS-Link cable, you saying there was one in your box?

And my wad is spent... I even had to order a $400 power cable for this thing... I'm tapped!

Yes, HS Link cable is included; photos soon...

Streaming would be possible with separate dCS Network Bridge: Network Bridge - 75Ω coax - DG-68 - 75Ω coax - Rossini - XLR analog - C1100

4) Rossini - RCA analog - DG-68 - plus connection 2 (for streaming)

c) for streaming: on DG-68 select RCA analog input and choose 352.8kHz( DXD); on C1100 select first balanced input

This way you can use the Rossini DAC for CD and the DG-68 DAC for SACD and streaming via Rossini with room correction for all sources.
(For streaming c) is the only possible solution. For SACD however it might be possible to use the Rossini DAC, if you manage to run the DG-68 in HS-Link Ver.1 mode, i.e downsampling DSD to 176.4kHz.)

Hope I could help.

Martin
After re-reading this, my only question is why do I want to use two RCA from the Rossini to the DG-68, when I can use two balance XLR from the Rossini to the DG-68 for the steaming? Is this a case of having one too few XLR balance outputs on the Rossini?

That is exactly what I suggested. However this does not work with SACD.

That corresponds to my suggestion. SACD playback by DG-68 DAC. CD playback by Rossini DAC.

Downsampling SACD to 16/44.1 applies to dCS transports (Vivaldi, Rossini and earlier) but not to the DP-560.

I don't understand, what he meant exactly. He probably overlooked the HS-Link between DP-560 and DG-68.

Please refer to the bottom line of my post #29 above:
a) SACD is converted by DG-68 DAC
b) CD (and up to two additional non DSD digital sources up to 192kHz) is converted by Rossini DAC.
c) Streaming is initially converted by Rossini DAC, then fed via RCA analog to DG-68 and then converted by DG-68 DAC.

From Rossini, XLR analog is connected to C1100 (for b) and RCA analog is connected to DG-68 (for c).
I think it's possible to use both analog outputs of the Rossini as long as they are not connected to the same device (you may be asking John Quick for this).

Important: You need to do the measurements using either DAC resulting into two different compensation settings.

Martin

Thanks Masterlu. Always glad to help.
I had to figure out for myself how to digitally integrate room correction (DG-58 / DG-68, Trinnov ST-2 Pro) into an Accuphase / dCS system.
By writing post #29, I realised, that for streaming I would need the dCS Network Bridge instead of the Vivaldi Upsampler to do digital integration of room correction in order to avoid an additional AD/DA process.

You are too fast for me. The answer is yes. Please see my post #37 above.

yes, sorry... I'm emailing with John Quick as well as trying to process what you're saying.. I am going to try to diagram this on paper so I can wrap my mind around it, and find the weak points for the different ways to go about it.

Starting to wonder if the best option isn't going to be to just insert the DG68 between the amp and pre-amp as Ivan originally suggested?
