Continuing with the same soprano:

Johann Rosenmüller et al. - Habe deine Lust an dem Herren
Les Escapades
Miriam Feuersinger
va Qobuz

What strikes me of Mrs Feuersinger is that she often sings unknown (to me) composers.
Here she brings works of Erben, Strungk, Strattner, Rosenmüller, Legrenzi, Bertali, Pfleger and Flor.
There are a lot of gems out there, yet to be discovered.
What a wealth of choice we have as music lovers in 2020.

We listened to this album, travelling by car earlier today.

I really enjoyed Herbert Schuch's interpretations.

What the heck is POLYPHONY? My music education stopped at baroque.

Default A New Favorite

Listening to . . . . . G. F. Handel - Organ Concertos Op. 4

Ton Koopman
The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra

Quote:
"They take precedence over all the competition, both as performances and as recordings. The playing has wonderful life and warmth, tempi are always aptly judged, and although original instruments are used, this is authenticity with a kindly presence." Penguin Guide2011 edition.
Quote:
"Ton Koopman's playing is both brilliant and unpredictable. Surprise is regarded as being important, and it certainly lends an impromptu air to the proceedings. Koopman also, though not all the time, produces an elasticity of rhythm which is sometimes delightful and sometimes maddening. He more than compensates for this by his impish sense of humour, which has a will o'-the-wisp quality about it." . . . Gramophone Review.
Here, Koopman directs the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra himself, playing an 1831 instrument by Heuricus Dominicus Lindsen

I have long preferred the recording of these concertos by Daniel Chorzempa on the organ, with the Concerto Amsterdam, Jaap Schroder, Conducting . . . but upon hearing the Ton Koopman, I have a new favorite. A wonderful recording.

And, being a true baroque aficionado, I do love the Handel Organ Concertos.
