I believe "jamitloud" may enjoy a tad more power than that of an MC275.

I thought I needed more power but the MC275VI seems to hold its own in my system. I used to have an MC352 but I like the MC275VI better. Just my opinion.

@ Stahle.
I appreciate your recommendation. I do like the idea of tubes amps. I would love to try it out at my listening room at home. The Stereo shop near me only carries a small selection of McIntosh. But I’m sure if they had it, I would have it in my home for a demo. I can tell you really like it. I would like it as well just by the looks of it and I haven’t even heard it yet. I’m into the classic rock of the mid-60s to early 80s. As well as Blues and some Jazz. I play my music kind of loud, when the wife is not home, then I put on my favorite albums and play louder.

I think you are looking for some comparison of the 462 and 601’s? You might want to start a new thread. I’ve owned the 601’s, but not the 462 so I can’t be of much help other than to say that this is a high class problem and you’ll be happy with whatever you choose to purchase. Size and form factor will be bigger decision points than overall sound, which will be very similar between the two.

@W9TR.
I know for the MC462 I was impressed, I can’t imagine what the MC601’s monos sound like. I have a 16 x 37‘ room and I have a pub table 25 feet away from the front speakers with the couch at 14 feet from the front speakers. Like you say either one probably would be awesome. But I am willing to stepped up to get what I’m looking for. just won’t be able to do the 2301’s.

With a room like that, you will certainly benefit with the 601's or larger amps.

I love my 601's.

@Krustycat.
So the MC462 would not be big enough for a room this size?
And what would be bigger than the MC 601‘s.
Anyway, I don’t want to hijack this thread.
What should I do.
I am reading other threads anyways, But I would like to keep up ex
the search for my McIntosh amp. I just love my C2700.

The MC462 would work very well too, don't get me wrong it's a terrific amp. Larger amps like MC 601's or MC 612's give you more headroom and may help you fill the room easier. If you want something even larger you could get a pair of the new MC 1.25kw.

Try reading all the amp reviews from Dan, nobody in this forum in my opinion has ever written better than him.

G’D bless his soul.

@ Krustycat.
Thank you for your comments.
I’ve been looking at the 601’s and the 611’s.
Is the MC611 a newer version of the MC601?
Also wouldn’t the MC1.25 kw be overboard if my speakers recommended amplifier power is 400 Watts?
I know I would like a killer amp, so far the 601 is very interesting.

I will look for Dan’s amps reviews.
