Hi Jack - yes, the analog in from the Oppo BDP-95 sounds much better than digital processing via Cinema 1 on the MX119. This is true even for compressed DD/DTS, and especially true for the uncompressed PCM/Dolby True HD/DTS Master Audio soundtracks which the MX119 does not decode. I highly doubt you are doing anything wrong there with your setup. I connect my digital output from the 95 only to get matrix surround for 2-channel sources and, as mentioned, to help with calibrating audio levels for initial setup which works best if you calibrate the internal processing in the MX119 first.
