Does anyone know why when I hook up my Rega 3 TT w/Rega MM cartridge to the phono section of my C2200 preamp there is a huge hum that is loud enough to register on my amplifier's meters? This happens even without the volume set past zero. I tried new tubes without any change. The Rega doesn't have a separate ground wire, so there's no way I can ground it to the ground screw on the preamp. I plugged the TT into a different phono stage on a friend's Audio Research preamp and it's quiet. Does this problem sound like the C2200 has to be sent to McIntosh for repair?
When you unplug the table and go to the phono input on the pre, is there hum?
